Both the Oklahoma Farm Bureau and the Oklahoma Horse Racing Commission are deeply saddened to announce the passing of its Chairman, James Fuser, who passed away Thursday after a lifetime of service to rural Oklahoma.

Fuser served as a member of the Board of Directors for the Oklahoma Farm Bureau for nine years before being termed out. He served while Rodd Moesel was President of the farm group, who said that Fuser served passionately both Oklahoma and American agriculture during his time on the board. "When he spoke, it was significant, offering great insights." Moesel and Fuser both were members of Class V of the Oklahoma Ag Leadership Program. Fuser and his wife, Candy, farmed in the Afton area of northeast Oklahoma.

After stepping away from the OkFB Board- Governor Kevin Stitt appointed Fuser to the Oklahoma Horse Racing Commission. Chairman Fuser began his service with the Commission as a Commissioner before assuming the leadership role of Chairman. Throughout his tenure, he provided steady guidance, thoughtful leadership, and an unwavering commitment to the integrity and advancement of horse racing in Oklahoma.

"Chairman Fuser was more than a chairman; he was a respected leader, a trusted colleague, and a passionate advocate for the horse racing industry," said Amanda English, Executive Director of the Oklahoma Horse Racing Commission. "His dedication, wisdom, and vision helped shape the Commission and strengthen the future of horse racing in our state. His presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of working alongside him."

During his years of service, Chairman Fuser earned the admiration of fellow commissioners, industry stakeholders, and racing participants through his professionalism, fairness, and commitment to serving the people of Oklahoma. His leadership helped guide the Commission through important opportunities and challenges while maintaining a focus on the long-term success of the industry.

Beyond his official duties, Chairman Fuser was known for his integrity, kindness, and genuine concern for the people involved in horse racing. His contributions leave a lasting impact that will be remembered for years to come.

The Oklahoma Horse Racing Commission extends its heartfelt condolences to Chairman Fuser's family, friends, and loved ones during this difficult time. The Commission is grateful for his distinguished service and honors the legacy he leaves behind.

Additional information regarding memorial services will be shared as it becomes available.
